God’s Statement:
Listen so you can hear.
Observe so you can see.
There are many names to this kind of prayer – contemplative prayer,
meditation, prayer of quiet, centering prayer, etc.
There are many discussions and differing opinions about this form of prayer.
Part of our problem is that we think we need tell God what is happening in our lives.
He knows.
God may be a stranger to you but you are not a stranger to Him.
As you learn to listen, you will be amazed at how much He knows you much better than
you know yourself, down to the little details of your life that you yourself have forgotten.
This is why Jesus said your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Here’s a very simple way to do this. When you pray, after you have said everything you want to say,
keep quiet. Give God a chance to give you His feedback. The Blessed Sacrament chapel is a wonderful
place to pray this way.
This kind of prayer is not a process. It is not a relaxation exercise.
It is not a technique. This form of prayer is going to God with A HEARTFELT
INTENTION AND DESIRE to hear Him. It is when you leave it to God to take over
the moment… and He will.
Come to the quiet, come to the still,
It is in this space that you shall hear,
Three words that will turn you around,
“My child, I am here.”
Question:
Why can’t I hear You all the time? Why am I not in touch with You at every moment?
God’s answer:
You talk to your self too much.
